By looking at how we breathe, we begin to understand something about who we are.”
- Richard Rosen, The Yoga of Breath
108 Breaths to Freedom
When we can breathe fully and easily, we are happy and able to live our lives to the fullest.
When we are feeling unable to handle life’s inevitable challenges, our breath becomes shorter and quicker, leaving us anxious and tired, limiting our ability to cope. In the ancient texts of yoga, the breath is the most closely associated with Prana, the energy that animates everything in the universe. When we work with the breath then, we are inevitably connecting with the source and essence of our lives.
When you sign up for the 108 Breaths Challenge, I’ll be your daily guide for 8 days to begin building a fuller, liberated breath and living a fuller, liberated life. Each day for 20-30 minutes, I’ll guide you using different practices that help you expand and mobilize your breath, manage your energy levels, and sharpen your mental focus.
You’ll hear from me each day with an email including a link to a video recording of the practice for you to follow and reflection questions to help you deepen your awareness of and insight into the changes you experience. At the end of this challenge you will have a deeper understanding of the power of breath and the motivation to use it to your advantage.
I would love to have you join!

Why 108?
In Yoga and Hinduism, 108 is considered a sacred number. Like Ohm is considered the sound of the universe, 108 is believed to be a measurement representing the wholeness of existence. This gave rise to many examples of ritual significance: there are 108 beads an a mala prayer necklace; 108 Upanishads (ancient Indian philosophical documents); 108 marma points (sacred points of the body). These all convey significance and meaning.
Pranayama is a transformational practice and can have very powerful effects on human energy systems. I chose 108 breaths as an entry point of teaching for this challenge to instill the reverence and respect that this practice deserves.
“Thank you for offering this class. The breath...its everything right!? connection, energy, awareness. It’s simply powerful—and the basis for all. And in my heart I feel it’s one of the most important things one can do to help create a kinder, more loving world community.”

I have taught over 1000 hours and am accredited as a continuing education provider with Yoga Alliance, which means I can teach teachers. I know my stuff and want to share it with you!
Even more important, my personal experience with using this practice to help me through a significant back injury, addiction, and raising 2 children as a single mom can attest to the healing power I know can help you too. I bring all of this knowledge and experience to every moment of my work and am always learning more and bringing that back into my sessions.
